Have baby, Will travel. I LOVE it!

I gave Dusty a slideshow DVD of pictures of him and the kids for Father Day. I didn't have as many of him with Baylor as I did of him and Brier. So I told him we had to change that for next year's slide show. And by the way that slide show was the best gift I could have ever given him. Don't tell him I told you but he was choking back tears, I could tell. Shhhh!

I think I'm going to do that for women next year for Father's Day gifts. It really was the best. I wish I could figure out an online hosting company that I could upload it in the format I've done it in to post here. I'll keep checking.

Memorial Day Weekend

Safari...So Good

We had one of those weekends over Mother's Day weekend. You know the ones, where everything was perfect, the weather, the kids, and the trip. I've been bugging Dusty to take us somewhere, somewhere like San Antonio. So it was my Mother's Day/birthday gift this year from him and I've decided that is what I want every year is a trip. The whole trip was ideal, and it couldn't have been more fun.
We had planned on leaving Thursday but Dusty got off early so we left on Wednesday after I got off of work and drove to Kerrville. Its about 6 hours and the kids did fabulous, Baylor hit her limit at about 10 that night an hour before we got there, which is funny because right about the same time I did too. But we made it and I'm glad we decided to go on and have another full day there. Our first day we spent driving around the Hill Country, dreaming and drooling over ranches. Dusty dream seriously. He doesn't want one of those city boy ranchettes either, he wants the full blown working ranch.

Disclaimer: These picture look like they were taken in the 80's because I had to use a disposable camera. No zoom and no picture preview. I thought I was going to have a mini panic attack several times but too it was nice because I didn't spend the whole trip trying to get "the perfect" picture. I would snap the camera and move on, the way it use to be.

Gorgeous drive between Hunt and Vanderpool. The road where Dusty killed a 4 ft rattlesnake. Yep, he can't get away from them. It is his 3rd this year. This one was the smallest he has killed so what out for them.


Then the next day we went to I was concerned if the kids would enjoy it but the LOVED it. I was surprised. We opened em up and shut em down that day.

Shamu show, Brier liked it so much, we had to go to both shows. There was a baby Shamu, she is only 4 months old. Baylor enjoyed watching her.

Seeing sharks. Exhausted! I thought I was going to be the smartest person and plan our trip for May before school got out and it got hot. Good idea, huh? Well, I guess every middle school kid in SA gets to go to Sea World for their field trip and it was 95 degrees that day. But it was fun anyways.

We went and ate at
that night, I hardly ever eat there. Years in between times. I was very disappointed, long wait, bad services, and okay food.

The next day we went to the Wildlife Ranch...African Safari Texas Style in San Macros. It was ok. Dusty got bit by the zebra, haha. Must have been his trip to get bit. I'm glad he ran over the snake and bit by the duck and zebra instead of vise versa.









Saturday afternoon we went to the outlet mall. Let me tell you that was a horrible, horrible idea. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT ever go to the mall the afternoon before Mother's Day.

We drove back to Kerrville that night and ate at Mamacitas it was the best mexican food ever. My parents go to Kerrville all the time in their motorhome and they eat at this place and just rave and rave about it. I've always been OK, whatever. But, it is worth a trip to Kerrville just to eat there.

Sunday, we headed home, dropped Dusty off at his camper in Midland to find it flooded. :( Back to the real world. I was worried about driving the last 2 hours with the kids by myself after having drove 5 hours already but they were perfect and ready to be home.

All in all, it was one of the best trips of my life. It was nice to get the kids away and I think it definitely rejuvenated all of us.

This is Baylor's horse, Sweettart. We just recently named her. Dusty and his siblings have had the Mare for years. They have been offered lots of money for her. When I say lots, I mean lots. Like "seriously, you can't part with her" lots. He says she is "priceless". Whateva!! But, she is starting to show her age so Dusty wanted to breed her a couple of times to get some pint size mine-mes out of her for the kids. Because if you ask him, you just don't find ropin' smarts in every horse.

So she had Shorty first, he has spunk and a bad attitude most of time. Then her next baby was stillborn. It broke our hearts and we couldn't put her through it anymore but he had also breed Shorty to Senorita (are you confused yet, no they aren't related) and whatda ya know we got another mini mare. Sweettart has the best personality super sweet and loving. She LOVES the kids.

and then there is Drover. He is OCD and my shadow. He takes every step I do. He once followed me all the way to the college. He is like having another kid. When Brier and Baylor are wrestling for who I'm going to pick up and hold, Drover joins in pushing them out of the way, assuming I might really pick him up and hold him. But he is a serious watch dog and I like that right now.

Since I posted a blog about Brier a few weeks ago, I don't want to play favorites so here are some pictures of Baylor.

Ginny from the Block

There once was a puppy who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. One day people came in and rescued her, her family, and all of her friends from what is called a puppy mill.

In just her young life she has spent weeks living in a cage and even going to court to being "approved" to go live at a new home.

So now she spends her days being tortured loved by 4 kids.

Who can't get enough of her.

They even hosted a puppy naming party and although Olivia and Kai-lan had a strong running, they were beat out by Pops who chose Ginger.
